Spam Cooking

Our next Wednesday meeting, is the Spam and Tofu Cooking Night, organised the Clinton and Lincoln. No we all know Clint hates stuff, but he sure does love Spam (like all of us!) so make sure that if you do have any recipe suggestions, you let him know.

You may recall last Wednesday that we changed the date from the 15th to the 22nd of March. If you turn up on the 15th you may be devastated when you realise there is no Spam that night.....

In other news, I'll be away in Sydney for a conference from the 15th to the 19th of March, so if it turns out we have Volleyball that week, you'll need to get there without me.

5-May-2006: Limestone Ridge Walk

This Sunday after the FIg Tree markets we'll be going for a walk in the Limestone Ridge area near Mt. Etna. We'll be looking for cave entrances, however we will not be entering any due to lack of qualifications, maps, etc. It's a nice spot to go walking though, with plenty of good scenery, and interesting rock formations.

Make sure that you bring the following:
  • Sturdy shoes to protect you from pointy rocks.
  • Drinking water. I'd recommend 2 litres.
  • A hat. Or you'll be forced to wear some floral gardening hat.
  • Sun Screen.
  • Money to buy some lunch.
If you want to know some more about the area, check out a post I made on one of my other blogs:

Coming Events 27-2-06

Thanks to Rohan for filling us all in on the upcoming Music Night. Fell free to bring your own instruments along, no matter what they may be, and remember the age old saying - don't touch what you can't afford.

This Thursday is Volleyball as usual, and if memory serves me correctly, the game is at 7:30. Since most of you will forget anyway, how about you just make sure you're ready, every 45 minutes from 5:15 onwards until I actually pick you up. Too Easy!

This weekend we have the Fig Tree Markets. The usual 7:00 start and finish at 13:00. We have no activity planned at this stage so feel free to make some suggestions. Golf maybe? Rohan has already indicated he's no available, so if any of the rest of you aren't coming, then you'd better let me know ASAP, so I don't get mad and turn into the Incredible Hulk.

On Wednesday we'll also chat about the trip to Awoonga Dam on the 11th and 12th of March. We need to get organised and make sure the trip goes ahead. I'll be disappointed if we don't get to go again....

The 15th of March will be the Tofu/Spam Cooking Night. Hopefully Clinton and Lincoln are finding some delicious recipe's for us to eat. Sadly I'll be away at a conference that night, so you may have to 'delight' some other leader with this 'fine' food.

Get your Groove on People

Ok,
As you would all know, the music night is comming up, and i will be bringing my keyboard, Drumkit and guitar with me, that accounts for three people having something to do. I Believe that Mat is bringing his gee-tar and bass, so thats two more, and lincoln would bring his bass, thats one more, and smiley said he was going to steal his bro's gee-tar, so all and all everyone will be having something to do.

even clinton has he's happy flute, and he betta bring it.

But one condition, no-retard touches any valueble possesions of anyones without there consent, e.g. Mats Gee-tar or my Drums.

cya all then, it should be good.

Back in Various Colours though not Black.

Back in Sunny Yeppoon once again. Hope you guys enjoyed yourselves while I was away.

As Smiley has already mentioned, Volleyball is at 6pm this week. If anyone should forget, then they may be presented with another puzzle more cryptic than the one I sent Rohan several weeks ago.

I'll also take this opportunity to remind you all that on our next meeting (Wednesday the 1st of March, and it's another music night btw.) that I will be expecting you guys to tell me when we're going to do our June/July Trip. I need to book holidays ASAP, so if you don't have them for me then, you may miss out.

See you later.....

Bat Tour

No thanks to Lincoln, but we're now booking into the Bat Cleft Tour tomorrow night. I'll will call each of you tonight to confirm the details, but just so you know:

We need to meet the tour outside of The Caves pub at 5:30. Because of this I am going to suggest that we all meet at the Old Macdondalds Farm (E-I-E-I-O) at 5:00pm. I'm not planning on going home before we leave, so don't expect me to be able to pick you up from Yeppoon.
  • The cost is $3.90 for Children and $7.80 for Adults.
  • The trip includes a 2.5km walk, so bring some walking shoes.
  • Also bring drinking water, a torch and some insect repellant.
  • The tour goes for 3 hours, so don't expect to be home much before 9:30-10:00
  • Depending on the time, we may grab something for dinner on the way back, since I won't get a chance to have any before.
  • We have booked for 5 people, so if we have any extra parents, siblings who want to come along, then we need to call and make sure there's room, since there's a maximum of 12 people allowed on the tour, and including us there are already 8 booked.
  • Since Lincoln didn't bother to call them, I haven't bothered to book him a spot. Tough Shit!
Speak to you all tonight.

Ok, I rang the Calliope Venturer Leader and he said it's ok if we use the grounds and facilities. We need to get the keys off him. Rohan's Dad is coming along with his boat.

For food bring your own, but on Saturday we're havin a BBQ, If you want any thing particular tell me and I might consider it.

Calendars, Volleyball

Now, without wanting to point any fingers, it's come to my attention that you guys perhaps aren't the best organised of people. In order to aid you, I present you the following link:

http://www.planzo.com

Planzo is a cool, and most importantly free Web based Calendar, which I suggest you all join so that you can get yourselves organised a bit better. Rohan and I already have, and I've created a group for Yeppoon Venturers. Feel free to check my calendar so that you can see when Venturer Activities on.

http://hellboy.planzo.com
http://rohan.planzo.com

Volleyball this week is at 6:45. This week both Rohan and Smiley are away, so it's just Cam, Lincoln and myself playing, so if you know someone who'd like to play, the ask them!

Oh, and Lincoln, don't forget to organise the Bat Cave tour for next week.

Upcoming Activity: Awoonga Dam Trip

The Awoonga Dam trip will be changed to the weekend of the 20th-22nd of January, 2006. Cameron is now organising the trip and is sending out details.

Basically you will need to BYO meals except for Saturday dinner. Harrass Cam for more details....

Activity Idea: Bat Cave

I was reading in the paper yesterday, that National Parks and Wildlife are running tours of the Bat Cave in the evenings up until Mid-February including Wednesday nights. This is an activity I reckon we should definitely do.....

See you all tonight.

January 2006 Trip

I'm sure you guys are all starting to get sick of your holidays, and I'd just like to make a couple of suggestions. We've talked about going down to Awoonga Dam for a trip, and that would be pretty cool. If we want to do this we should start to get organised pretty quick, since we'd probably need to do it on one of the first couple of weekends in January.

Another suggestion is to stay a bit closer to home and head over to North Keppel, or maybe even Five Rocks for a weekend. I'm pretty keen to do either of those, and just spend time relaxing, swimming, snorkeling, fishing etc.

Anyone else have any ideas? I suggest we look at the 14th & 15th of January as a possible weekend.....

Sweet, Sweet Victory!

Hi Guys,

We won Volleyball last night. An amazing accomplishment, especially considering we didn't have Lincoln "King" Roberts playing for us. The King is Dead, Long Live the King!

Don't forget that our "Don't you dare say Xmas" dinner is being held at the old Sailing Club on Wednesday (the one on the beachfront). Cameron has booked us in, presumably at 7pm.

The cost of the night will depend on what you order, but as a guide I'd suggest a main course will cost around $10-15, entree $5-10 and Dessert $5-10. There's also drinks on top of that. Obviously you don't need to have every course, if you only want a main or entree, then feel free. Scabbing from other people will not be allowed.

I'll be bringing along a few small gifts for you guys, so if you want to join in on the present giving feel free. Nothing more the $2 though.

Hi Guys

The game is at 6:00.
So you can all cry and whine.

Cya Smiley

PS Rohan, when I say the game is at 6:00 this means the game starts at 6:00 and you will be picked up 45 minutes beforehand.

PPS That poor trout.

Upcoming Activity: Music Night

Ok, i quite enjoyed the last music night, and it might bepossible that by the next time we have a free activity i just might be in possion of a Drum kit, (fingers crossed) so this time everyone can have a go.

But its all up to you guy's, and Clinton to make the program.

Next Year

I've been doing some thinking about our plans for next year, and I have the following goals/ideas for you all to think about:

  • Big Trip in June. Planning to head out to Carnarvon and Longreach, plus everywhere in between. Budget for the trip will be $500 per person.
  • More weekend adventurous activities. Hopefully I will have my caving and abseiling qualifications approved next year, so I'd hope to do more of that kind of stuff. I'd also like to do my Canoe charge, and any of you who enjoy canoing should renew theirs.
  • New Leader Hunt. Remember at the end of 2006 I'll be returning back to Adelaide so we need to start thinking about recruiting a new leader.
  • New members. We'll be getting a few new members next year, so that would be another good reason to find another leader.
  • Fundraising. Given that we'll each be needing $500 for the trip, we still have a fair bit of fundraising to do. Most of us will need to raise about $200+ each before June, so those of you who haven't run an event (Smiley, Cam, Clint, Lincoln) need to start thinking about what they'll do.
To discuss all this, our first meeting next year will be on the 4th of January, and will be a typical Unit Council. All of you with positions on the council will need to be ready to participate, and remember that if you have any questions then let me know and I'm only too happy to chat with you about it.

The 7th

Ok,
so there isn't anything planned for next weeks activity, and as usual, I choose to blame ________ < insert name of annoying Venturer/Leader here.

Anyway I suggest that Matt borrows/steals a projector and we have another Xbox night... or movies whatever floats your boats.

that's all

PS: (Rohan for Chairman)

Christmas Dinner

I'm thinking on moving it to the 21st, so every one make sure they are able to attend. If they aren't (too bad - Matt) tell me and I'll see if I can bend the dates a bit.

Yours truly
Camo

Bunnings BBQ and Fig Tree Markets

This Sunday the 4th of December, we're cooking the BBQ at the Bunnings in Rockhampton, and we're also putting up the tent at the Fig Tree Markets in Yeppoon.

As usual we'll meet at 7am at the markets, and once we've put the tent up, we'll make our way to Rocky for the BBQ. Hopefully you can all come because we can potentially make a lot of money from this event, all of which will wind it's way into your personal accounts.

We should be finished at around 2pm, thought it may finish earlier or later depending on demand/supplies.

Good Going

Everyone give Matt and Mr. Dawes a big round of applause,
Due to faulty information the Special Xmas party was on Saturday, which we were told was on Sunday..

Mr. Dawes said "Matt told me Sunday, so i thought it was.. i later on checked my email and it said saturday, D'oh"

so, it strikes us sad that we couldn't go...

unlucky boys, unlucky.

See you then

Shirt Design

Ok,

And another thing we need those shirts, i personally liked those King G ones... they were.. well king! Or we could get a crappy cheap one.. price or quality. Its up to you....

Special Children Xmas Party

As I mentioned at the last Unit COuncil, we have been invited to help out at the Spcial Children Xmas party on November the 27th. The event starts at 1:30pm and finishes at 4:30pm and will be held at the Rocky Showgrounds. All participants will recieve free drinks and pizza, as well as a certificate. Full uniform is required.

This will be a great opportunity for some free publicity. We will talk about this in Wednesday night so make sure that you have decided whether or not you want to attend.
