Paddling Your Canoe, that's a Paddling

Jo and I went out to the Ferns Hideaway the other weekend, with Peter and Kaye from Melbourne. We had a great lunch there, the Ferns being one of the few places in Yeppoon to get a decent pizza!

Afterwards, Peter and I decided to go for a paddle up the Waterpark Creek, which runs alongside the property. It's a reasonably big creek, in fact it probably carries more water than the River Torrens, but it runs though some beautiful rainforest, and eventually a series of rapids, which we decided not to go past.

It was great and the Ferns Hideaway has some really cool cabins which are available to stay in, complete with spa's and fireplaces. Just the thing for a romantic weekend!

Visitors Amongst Us....

In the last couple of weeks we've had a couple of visitors to our house.

First off, a couple of Jo's friends, Barb & John came to stay with us for a few days. After witnessing the Crows get thumped by Brisbane, they decided to unwind with us, and see the sites of Yeppoon and Rocky. Unfortunately neither Jo or I could take time off to hang out with them, but they reckon they had a great time, and thought that the trip out to Great Keppel Island, with a lunch cruise as well as a trip on a glass bottom boat, was great value!

Just as Barb & John were leaving, my parents arrived from sunny Bangkok! They were looking forward to a few relaxing days in Yeppoon after spending the last few months in Africa and the UK. And that's pretty much what we did.

We shopped around Rocky, had lunch with Jo, and generally bludged around! On the Sunday we went out to Byfield to check out the pottery galleries, and also had lunch at the Ferns Retreat, which was great! We were even serenaded by a singing dog!

We also checked out the Capricorn Caves, and this time I remembered to take the camera. Make sure you check out the photo's in the Photo Album.
