Propagandhi:Monday, May 31, 2004

I though for todays article I'd ramble on about one of the CD's I currently have playing in my stereo.

In case you haven't noticed, in the right-hand column of this webpage I list the 5 CD's currently in my CD player. This is not meant to be some sort of description of my top 5 CD's, really more just what happens to be taking my fancy right at the moment. As you can see, currently there's not alot in there that's been released in the last few years.

Anyway, what ususally happens is that when I'm cooking dinner, doing the dishes, surfing for porn on my PC, etc I chuck the stereo onto random and it belts out various songs from those CD's.

One that I've stuck in recently is Propagandhi's latest release "Todoay Empires, Tomorrow's Ashes". This is a great CD, and I was thinking the other day, probably the best punk CD in my collection, not to mention the best punk CD I've heard in the last 10 years. Personally I've felt Propagandhi has been a bit hit and miss in recent releases, being a little too pop punk for my liking, but on this recording they've definitely raised the 'hardcore' level, possibly as a result of gaining a new bass player.

I've had the priveledge of seeing them live a couple of times down in Adelaide, both of them were great shows. I'm not sure what the guys are doing at the moment, I get the feeling from looking at their website that there's not alot happening, but there do appear to be one or two shows every now and then that they play at.

Hopefully they can come up with the goods and create a great new album, and hopefully even tour again, because I'd love to see what I consider to be one of the great punk bands playing again.
